Proposed Fakes and Forgeries

Explore the fakes and forgeries that the MST 460 students hypothetically proposed during the Spring 2025 semester.

Fakes are “work[s] of art, antique[s], or collectible[s] that [have] been tampered with for the purposes of fraud” (Charney 34, 2016).

Forgeries are “object(s) made in fraudulent imitation of an existing item or the creation of an artwork that presumes to be something other than what it actually is” (Charney 34, 2016).

The forgery and fake projects range from sculptures to paintings to medieval tapestries to bottles of wine and more. Each student created a unique take on their crime, which is reflected in their creative and enticing posts below.
