Intro
Among the most prominent figures of Northern Arizona University includes the Moenkopi sandstone building known as Old Main. When you arrive at NAU, Old Main is most likely the first building that catches your eye, given its structural uniqueness and intriguing nature. Many students, faculty and Flagstaff locals may pass this building every day without any knowledge of its elaborate past of this building. When the northern Arizona normal school was first established in 1899, Old Main was the first building to mark the presence of the establishment, and its history reaches even farther beyond 1899, and continues to stand with importance to this day.
