Description
-
This painting was displayed and paired with the painting Angelica and Medoro. The compositions seem to reflect and play off of each other with repetition of diagonals, clouds, and even the leopard skin. In this particular myth, Jupiter disguises himself as Diana to seduce Callisto, and leaves her with child. Diana, or Jupiter, is pictured towards the bottom left, embracing Callisto.
