Description
-
This painting was a decorative piece, made specially for a door in The Metropolitan. Due to the decorative elements in the picture, it can be observed that the shapes and composition of Rococo art often reflected the decorative shapes of the interior space. In this piece, Boucher depicts cupid, along with roses and a note, perhaps a poem. The theme lacks depth, which can be used to make the argument that the Rococo was purely a style of decor.
