This item is a political cartoon of four presidential candidates in each corner and Dred Scott in the middle on a chair. Scott has an exaggerated head, dark skin, and plays the fiddle. Above his head reads "THE POLITICAL QUADRILLE/Music by Dred Scott." In the upper left there are two men dancing with each other, though one is half goat (Democrat John C. Breckinridge and James Buchannan). In the upper right is Abraham Licoln dancing with a Black woman in a ball gown. On the bottom left is Stephen Douglas who dances with an impoverished looking Irishman. The lower right drawing is John Bell in suit dancing with an Indian in native clothing.
