Description
This textile fragment is woven silk, colored mostly gold with blue embellishments and a red inscription which reads "Good luck and glory and exaltedness and magnificence". It comes from a collection of vestments from the cult of Saint Valerius. The dalmatic in its entirety would have been worn on the day of his feast.

Silk, gilt animal substrate around a silk core; tapestry weave, 3 1/8 in. x 8 1/4 in.
