Description
This statuette of the Virgin Mary was made in the Rhine Valley, and expands from a shrine into an altarpiece when opened. Sculpted representations of the trinity were revealed when shrine opened, but the Christ figure and the dove representing the Holy Spirit have been lost. Remaining is a sculpted God the father and painted scenes of the Nativity on the wings.
