Description
-
Friedkin first began photographing the queer community in Los Angeles and San Francisco when he was 19 years old, hoping to gain clarity on the struggles between bigotry and pride. In this image, Friedkin depicts a woman named Michelle, presumably a drag queen, with exaggerated hair and makeup. She sits in what appears to be a dressing room and stares directly at the camera.
