Description
-
Giard, a gay portrait, landscape, and figure photographer, was best known for the series this portrait derives from: "Particular Voices: Portraits of Gay and Lesbian Writers." He was first inspired to begin the project after seeing a performance of Larry Kramer's "The Normal Heart", which spoke of AIDS without any qualms. In this photo, Kramer looks out a window while holding his dog, Molly, in his lap. His head is bald and he wears a sweater with the pink triangle and the words "Silence = Death", as well as a pin for ACT UP!
