May Hicks Curtis Hill, a 1905 graduate of Northern Arizona Normal School, made a flag in Flagstaff around August 7, 1911, at the request of her then-fiance Frank C. Curtis, who served with Captain Harris on the Arizona National Guard rifle team. The photo represents women lending service to the Arizona National Guard outside of traditional enlistment.
