Selection of illustrations as part of a guide to making a range of different women’s pockets for wearing under dresses from the book “The Workwoman’s Guide” written in 1838 by “A Lady”. Part of a larger plate of illustrations for a range of items of clothing (Plate 10, p.64), the figures shown here (Figures 10-14) are illustrations for pockets to accompany written instructions (p.73). The illustrations represent descriptions provided on different ways to align the entry to the pockets (Figures 10 and 11).
